Vicki's Antiques on Main is a multi-dealer co-op, located in the old downtown area of La Porte Texas on Galveston Bay. We are open 5 days a week, Monday-Saturday, 10:00am - 5:30pm. We sell estates and are a drop spot. We offer clock repair and neon light repair. The Antique Mall is housed in a 60 year old building on a 112 year old spot, that was La Porte Hardware. The building holds fond memories for the "old-timers" who grew up here because it housed La Porte's Toyland, and it is where generations of LaPortians spent their hours after the Saturday movies, and where they visited with Santa every year at Christmas. I am so fortunate to house my business in this most happy of locations.
La Porte continues to celebrate Christmas on Main St. during the first Thursday of December every year, with entertainment, venders, and Santa Claus, drawing a crowd of approximately 5,000 each year. La Porte has benefitted from a National Beach renurishment program, and for the first time in 40 years our Sylvan Beach Park actually has a beach again. La Porte is located only 30 minutes from Downtown Houston, so that we are the closest destination to reach Galveston Bay. The park offers wonderful bird and ship watching, as well as pic-nicking and kite flying opportunities. On Main St., an historic intersection, 5 Points, has been redesigned to create a Park from which all of our street events will center out of. Having a Main St. without a square was remedied by creating a central Plaza which will host musical events through-out the Summer, and offers free Wi-Fi. Decorated with twinkle lights and Art Deco Neon at night, it has brought color and comment to our street, and has been an encouragement to many.
